Many seasons, September is the time to hook a trophy rainbow trout in Alaska. This year was no exception. The following two fish were both caught in Alaska in September. Give us a call if you’d like to hook one!

From our good friend, Dan McGuire, who just returned from a week at Rapids Camp Lodge in Alaska:
As you requested, I’ve attached a few pictures. The larger Naknek Rainbow (30″), is held by Tom Provost. I’m holding the smaller 28″ Rainbow. The Arctic Char (around 30″) is held by Cody Street, one of the Rapids Camp Lodge guides.

Had a wonderful trip. Caught a 31.5″ rainbow the last afternoon when fishing the Naknek and it was a wonderful way to complete the trip. All of the other days with Noseeum were wonderful as well. Caught 30-50 fish/day, top notch accomodations, and staff that created a casual and warm atmosphere. I’ll be back. Many thanks for your arrangements.
This picture was just sent in from friends who did a trip in Alaska. They caught a rainbow on a Morrish Mouse. While releasing the bow the fish puked up a natural mouse. I can see why the fish fell for the Morrish Mouse.

“I wanted to thank you for your conversations and encouragement. I don’t know if I would have taken the opportunity to go if I hadn’t received your email regarding the Big Ku Lodge. As you suspected, the weather did not impact the fishing much at all and we had some great days. I fished the 7136 Z-axis for the majority of the trip – all of the Big Ku water and some of Battle Creek water. Shane Kohlbeck and Jordan Mortimore were very patient and got me casting farther that I could ever have anticipated. I think that in the end, I caught more rainbows over 20″ than under and my daughter did not catch any that were less than 20″.
I tend to have the “stay-at-home” sort of personality and found that I did not wish for fly-outs at all – there was far more than enough water and fishing in range of the Big Ku lodge. My daughter just adored the staff of Big Ku Lodge and, was crying as the float plane lifted off Kukaklek Lake. No doubt, it will be a week that she and I cherish for the rest of our lives. Thank you again for helping to arrange it. Sincerely, Kean”
